Astrology of November 2021
(Click on the image for a full-page Calendar).
Quite a bit is happening astrologically in November – to be followed by an equally eventful December.
The first 3 weeks have some bumps, but they also bring some very auspicious energies if you need that one final push to work on something. Mars, Mercury and the Sun will all be in Scorpio between Nov. 5-21, offering us a huge celestial boost of determination, focus, and self-discipline.
Don’t miss this cycle, especially the energy of Mars in Scorpio! It greatly increases the power to follow your goals until you achieve what you want. Get out your goal list, pick a goal you really want to accomplish this year, and give it your focused attention between now and Dec. 13. After, Mars will be moving into Capricorn, which is a good placement too. But, the super-focused, driven energy of Mars in Scorpio is only available to us every two years.
Scorpio Season is also a prime time to work on releasing unhelpful beliefs, behaviour patterns, addictions and debts. As a very wise client of mine says, she sets intentions to speed up repayment of her business loans – and it ends up her highest earning season of the year!
Take some time to honour your ancestors. Death and rebirth are a part of life. While it can be difficult to make your peace with it when you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, Scorpio Season asks us to bring these difficult topics into the sphere of our awareness. After all, it’s a very healing time of the year.
Venus will move into Capricorn on Nov. 5, boosting our ability to make practical decisions in love and money – the kind that brings long-term stability.
The Sun moves into Sagittarius on Nov. 21, followed by Mercury on Nov. 24. That lightens the energies quite a bit, infusing the last week of the month with positivity and lightheartedness. Hopefully you have done some work on your energetic blocks while Mercury was in Scorpio, because now you can use that newly freed up energetic space to welcome expansion, optimism and opportunities.
Eclipse Season Starts
November kicks off the eclipse season, with a Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse on Nov. 19 at 27 degrees Taurus. Big news! The lunar node axis is about to shift, from Gemini/Sagittarius to Taurus/Scorpio.
In 2020-2021, the eclipses were primarily in Gemini/Sagittarius. It’s the axis that asks us to examine our beliefs, and so it can be deeply polarizing. Sounds familiar, with the pro-vax/anti-vax debate that has swept the globe?
Sagittarius eclipses in particular are notorious for rebellious, loud behaviors that can spread like a wild fire and lead to riots. “Just give me a cause to riot for!”, says a Sagittarius eclipse. And yes, we had the Black Lives Matter riots, Indian Farmer protests, the anti-Asian racism movement – just to name a few. Diversity and inclusion has become a big and hugely politicized issue in the last couple of years – all of that happening while the eclipses were energizing Sagittarius and Gemini-related issues.
Well, that astrological energy is about to shift. While we still have one last Sagittarius eclipse on Dec. 4, we’re moving into a very different territory. Finances, deep healing, and Mother Nature are all highlighted when eclipses fall onto the Taurus-Scorpio axis. Stay tuned for my post on eclipses next week.
One quick note – we have had an increased earthquake activity over the past couple of months. That’s one of the things that eclipses in Taurus might bring. Not to say it WILL happen – but if you’re in earthquake prone zone, make sure you’ve got an earthquake preparedness kit. Better safe than sorry!
An eclipse season is a very powerful portal for those who are not afraid of some risk-taking. Quantum leaps are possible when intentions are set on a New Moon that is also a Solar Eclipse (Dec. 4). But, the energies are also very unpredictable, and your desires may be fulfilled in an unexpected and turbulent way.
If that sounds like too much excitement to you 😊 then sit out the eclipse season (Nov. 12- Dec. 10): don’t make any major decisions or launch new undertakings. New information may come to light that will change your plans, anyway.
Powerful New Moon in Scorpio: Nov. 4 2021 at 2:15 p.m. PDT
The New Moon in Scorpio is THE day of the year to do some manifestation work to connect with your personal power, invite more passion into your life, and to boost your resolve and determination to accomplish something. And that “something” can include getting rid of unhelpful habits (good-bye, smoking!), debt, or deep-seated emotions such as shame, guilt, envy and jealousy. And so it’s a very powerful New Moon, but also very healing.
It's directly opposite Uranus, increasing the chance of unexpected solutions materializing in your life, if you’re open to them.
If the themes of emotional healing and releasing unhelpful habits are important to you at this time, join me for my New Moon workshop on Nov. 4 12:00 p.m. PDT.
Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Taurus: Nov. 19 2021, 12:57 a.m. PST
This Moon makes many positive planetary connections, supercharged by the fact it’s also a Lunar Eclipse. It’s a great Full Moon to release blocks to financial abundance, negative body image, and unhelpful resistance to change – especially considering that Venus forms an energizing trine to Uranus right before this Full Moon!
Venus: Love, Money and Personal Values
Venus moves into practical Capricorn on Nov. 5. It will stay in Capricorn for quite some time, because it will turn retrograde on Dec. 19! Venus Retrograde is not the best time for weddings, proposals, moving in together, or cosmetic procedures. It’s not to say they will be doomed to fail, but the outcome might not be as you hope for.
But, before the retrograde happens, Venus makes several positive alignments in November. Venus in Capricorn is very helpful for getting serious about love or finances. Boosting relationships with your co-workers or your boss may be easier than usual. It’s a helpful time to build connections with those who can support your ambitions in life, especially in business or career.
And, if you’re thinking of a marriage proposal, Venus in Capricorn is a great energy for a long-lasting marriage. Just do it before Dec. 19, or after Jan. 29 2022!
Important dates (all dates for Pacific to Eastern Time):
Nov. 6: Mercury sextile Venus. It’s easier to express affection today. Send your loved one an affectionate text – or write an old-fashioned love letter! Also good for financial contracts and negotiations.
Nov. 15: Venus square Chiron. Pay attention to the messages that have come up for you in relationships, or around finances. While some of them might not be easy to handle, they can show you where you need to heal.
Nov. 18/19: Venus trine Uranus. Romantic encounters started on this date can be magnetic and exciting, but not long-lasting. For those in a long-term relationship, it’s a great day to do something new and exciting as a couple, to break out of the routine.
Nov. 30: Venus sextile Neptune. A great day for a super-romantic date.
Mercury: Communication, Legal Contracts, Vehicles, Electronics and E-Commerce
Mercury moves into intense yet healing Scorpio on Nov. 5. When Mercury goes through Scorpio, our ability to examine and release unhelpful mental patterns is amplified. (But we can also become obsessed with a thought or a feeling). It’s a very helpful energy for working on self-limiting beliefs, identifying thought patterns that may be blocking you in life, shadow work, counselling and therapy. Research and investigative activities also get a helpful boost of the “digging deep” energy that Mercury in Scorpio is known for!
After it spends just under 3 weeks in Scorpio, Mercury will be moving into Sagittarius on Nov. 24. What a great boost of positive, optimistic energy right before American Thanksgiving!
As Mercury is now moving direct, it will be repeating some of the planetary connections it made in October, while in retrograde:

Career, Business and Money:

The only fly in the ointment is that while in Scorpio, Mars will be butting heads with Uranus and Saturn, bringing some days of frustratingly slow progress, and unpredictability.
